“The Merchant App makes it dead simple for merchants to track their Groupons, which is especially helpful for businesses that have sold thousands of Groupons or span multiple locations,” said Andrew Mason, founder and chief executive officer of Groupon. “We’ve worked closely with our merchants, and their feedback has shaped a robust arsenal of services that we’re excited to roll out.”

The app greatly simplifies Groupon processing by enabling staff to redeem Groupon with an Android phone, iPod Touch and iPhone. Purchase data is then immediately transmitted to the existing merchant interface on Groupon.com, allowing business owners to track redemption and customer check amount in real time. For small businesses that are dealing with 1000’s of coupon redemptions, this app is a lifesaver.

In coming months, Groupon will ship Android phones and iPod Touches with the app preloaded to thousands of businesses as part of their featured promotion on the popular site.

“The Merchant App has been a powerful tool to make the overall redemption process smarter,” said Paul Kavouksorian of Paul K restaurant in San Francisco, which has been testing the iPhone app for several weeks. “My staff loves it. It’s simple to use and eliminates errors in processing vouchers that have been redeemed. We’d definitely recommend this app to other Groupon clients.”

Groupon is also working on rolling out a merchant analytics dashboard and other communications tools to help businesses stay in touch with their new Groupon customers.

Groupon has experienced explosive growth over the past two years and has keenly cashed in on bringing deals to the web in a new and innovative way.

Meanwhile, Snapchat and Kik are popular for younger crowds with fun filters and the ability to join large group chats.

With so many messaging apps out there offering features like video calls, file sharing, and disappearing messages, it can be hard to choose the best one. That's why we've tested 10 of the most popular options on Android and iOS. Check out the full rundown with all the must-know details. They run on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, iPhone 16, and anything else that runs on Android or iOS.

I hate the new Photos app in iOS 18
Photos app on iOS 18.

When Apple launched the iPhone 16 line, it also released iOS 18 to the masses after months of betas. Though the biggest feature of iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence, which didn’t actually launch until the iOS 18.1 release, there are plenty of other things that iOS 18 brings to the table. That includes RCS messaging, more home screen customization, a revamped Control Center, and more.

One app that got a significant redesign in iOS 18 is the Photos app. After around a decade of mostly the same design and what I would call muscle memory, the new Photos app is, well, quite jarring — and I'm not a fan.

A person holding the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Could the next big smartphone war be about who can make the thinnest device? Increasingly, it's looking that way.

Industry reports suggest Samsung is working on an ultrathin version of its upcoming Galaxy S25 flagship that could launch in 2025. The rumored timing would put it just months ahead of Apple's long-rumored "iPhone 17 Slim,” expected later that same year.
