3 great ways to take screenshots with the OnePlus One, and immortalize your Snapchats

Ever since people gained the ability to take screenshots with their smartphones, we’ve seen a steady rise in the number of outrageous text message threads and AutoCorrect fails littering the Web. Perhaps the greatest aspect about taking a screenshot on a smartphone, though, is the fact that it’s completely non-partisan — Nearly every smartphone model comes standard with some method for capturing what’s on the display.

Whether the method requires you to press a combination of buttons or a simple screenshot hotkey, each device slightly differs when it comes time to immortalize those priceless Snapchats.

Fortunately, the developers behind the OnePlus One smartphone outfitted the device with three straightforward methods for capturing what’s visible on the smartphone’s LCD display. To help those of you new to the OnePlus One family — or Android-based smartphones in general — we’ve put together the simple walkthrough for doing so below.

Option 1: Use the standard Android method

For seasoned Android users, the first method for capturing a screenshot with a OnePlus One probably sounds pretty familiar. Simply press and hold the Power and Volume buttons down at the same time, and you’ll notice a quick flash and an accompanying shutter sound. Once captured, a Screenshot captured message will appear in the notification bar, and you’ll be able to access your screenshots via the Screenshots folder within your phone’s Gallery application. You can also select the photo via the notification bar itself to edit, share, and upload the shot to a variety of cloud services and social media sites once you’ve opened it.

Option 2: Add the Screenshot option to the Power menu

The second method for capturing a screenshot on the OnePlus One requires a few steps to set up, but also proves far easier to use in the long run. To begin, first navigate to the Settings menu and click Buttons to access your device’s button settings. Afterward, choose to edit the Power Menu’s settings and check the box directly beside Screenshot to add the function to the menu. Now, simply hold down the power button on your phone’s home screen to access the Power Menu. If done correctly, you’ll see an option to take a screenshot among the other hotkeys listed.

Option 3: Record the OnePlus One’s screen

Users of a OnePlus One smartphone also have the ability to record the phone’s screen and microphone for a short period of time using the Screencast application. Simply launch the Screencast app and allow it to record everything occurring on the screen of your phone before saving it as a short video file. The feature may not be specifically tailored for capturing a screenshot, per se, but it still achieves the same results.

Someone wearing the OnePlus Watch 2.

Despite launching the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R last week, OnePlus and parent company Oppo are already gearing up for another release in February. At this event, OnePlus could launch the OnePlus Open 2 and the OnePlus Watch 3. While unofficial leaks about these devices are ramapnt, a recent official teaser indicates the OnePlus Watch 3 might also get blood pressure monitoring.

The teaser comes from Zhou Yibao, a product manager at OnePlus' parent company, Oppo. In a post on Chinese social media site Weibo, Yibao shared a look at the upcoming Oppo Watch X2, which is highly likely to be rebranded as the OnePlus Watch 3. While the post explicitly mentions that the Watch X2 will detect unusual fluctuations in blood pressure, an image attached to the post shows blood pressure trends over a fortnight, with a duration that indicates the risk of hypertension.

The OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R are the company's latest entries in the western market, with the OnePlus 13 designed to serve as a sort of flagship and the 13R to take the role of a midrange, entry-level phone.  The OnePlus 13 starts at $900, while the 13R retails for $600 for its 12GB RAM/256GB storage configuration.

Considering the price of other flagships, the OnePlus 13 is more wallet-friendly than most. But does that come with a tradeoff, and will the phone be worth considering in two or three years? The simple answer is yes, although there are several factors you should be aware of.
How many software updates does the OnePlus 13 get?
The OnePlus 13 will receive four years of major software updates and six years of security updates. This means the OnePlus 13 will reach the end of its lifespan on Android 19, although it will still be a viable phone for a couple of years after, thanks to the security updates.

Forget the Galaxy S25 Slim. The OnePlus Open 2 could be the thinnest foldable ever
A side view of the OnePlus Open.

With the launch of the Galaxy S25 series just around the corner, there has been a lot of speculation about the so-called S25 Slim. It might be too early to sing its praises, though; according to a reliable tipster, the upcoming OnePlus Open 2 (also known as the Oppo Find N5 in the Chinese market) might be the thinnest foldable phone ever made.

Digital Chat Station, a leaker with a pretty trustworthy track record, has claimed the OnePlus Open 2 will beat out even the Honor Magic V3. The Honor Magic V3 is only 9.2mm folded and 4.35mm unfolded — the slimmest on the market — so if the OnePlus Open 2 manages to squeeze its hardware into an even smaller form factor, it's going to set records. In addition, Digital Chat Station also claims the chassis will be made of titanium.
