I love this easily repairable phone at this great Cyber Monday price

It’s rare to find a smartphone that has a unique feature these days, and especially one that’s available at a bargain price. The HMD Skyline happens to tick both those boxes with its genuinely simple repairability and sizable discount on its normal price in Amazon’s Cyber Monday deal.

Normally $500, the HMD Skyline is $400 through Amazon right now, and not only is it an unlocked phone ready for use with the AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, and Tracfone networks but the price also applies to the three different color variations. This is important because although you could choose the basic black version, you should go for the far more eye-catching Blue Topaz or Neon Pink model.

The reason is not just because brightly colored phones are better but also because it recalls the wonderful world of Nokia’s Windows Phones, the design of which the HMD Skyline very effectively homages. It’s no coincidence either, as HMD (formally HMD Global, now known as Human Made Devices, or HMD) has the license to put the Nokia name on mobile phones. The design really won me over when I reviewed the Skyline, particularly because the phone is so comfortable to hold, a design aspect that’s not always a given these days.

The HMD Skyline’s $400 price means it out-competes a lot of excellent phones like the OnePlus Nord 4, the Samsung Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55, along with the Nothing Phone 2a, but none of these provide a way to quickly and easily change a broken screen, a battery past its best, or even the speaker at home, yourself.

Cheaper and more convenient than taking it to a specialist, HMD has made repairing the Skyline very simple through its partnership with iFixit, and it’s a real rarity today. I successfully took the Skyline apart with a very basic set of tools in just a few minutes, and I’ve watched an HMD representative replace the screen in under 10 minutes. It’s that easy.

If you want a new smartphone with hardware that’s going to last, the HMD Skyline is worth considering at this price, particularly if you’re prone to dropping or accidentally damaging your devices. HMD has prioritized hardware repairability over its software update policy, but does still promise to deliver two main Android version updates along with three years of security updates.

The HMD Skyline sets itself apart from the competition not through the camera but through its great design and simple repairability. At $400, it’s a much better deal than it is at the usual price, and it may just prove to be the phone that lasts you the longest, just because you can easily fix any accidental damage yourself.

The 9th Gen iPad with Apple’s A13 Bionic chip is only $200 today
The iPad on a tablet displaying web content.

The Apple iPad has been a popular holiday item for several years now. With Cyber Monday officially here, we’re excited to see so many great iPad deals available. That leads us to this offer we found: For a limited time, when you purchase the 9th Gen iPad with A13 Bionic, you’ll only pay $200. At full price, this iPad sells for $480. We had the opportunity to test this model a while back, and our iPad expert had the following to say: “The iPad 10.2 (2021) is the best iPad you can buy today. There are few discernible upgrades over the previous two generations, but if you don't have one, this is the one to get. If you do, there's no point in upgrading.” If that's not a solid argument for grabbing this 9th Gen iPad deal, I don't know what is.

Why you should buy the 9th Gen iPad
Even though the A14 version of the iPad was released back in 2022, it’s not unusual for Apple to still sell the A13 version brand-new. And then, when holidays like Cyber Monday and Christmas roll around, the company knocks a few extra dollars off this 2021 device. Don’t be fooled either: the Apple A13 Bionic is an incredible chip that delivers a buttery smooth iPadOS experience, complete with fast load times, animations, and excellent media playback.

The Apple iPad (10th Gen) is down to $331 for Cyber Monday

Are you ready? Cyber Monday is here and the deals are as green as ever. The Black Friday discount from Walmart on the Apple iPad (1oth Gen) is gone but the price is still low. The Wi-Fi, 64GB model is on sale for $331 (down from $349). It's not the most attractive Cyber Monday tablet deal that we've found but a discount is a discount. We're not sure for how long, though. Like with most Cyber Monday deals available, there's a chance that the offer disappears sooner than you think. If you want this device for a more affordable price than usual, we highly recommend buying soon.

Why you should buy the Apple iPad (10th Gen)
The Apple iPad (10th Gen), which was released in 2022, is the latest version of the base model of Apple's tablets. It's featured in our roundup of the best iPads as the one that you'd want to buy if you want to save some cash while still getting a great iPad. It's not as technically impressive as the sixth-generation Apple iPad Air, which tops that list, but the 10th-generation Apple iPad is about half the price while still delivering a really nice user experience with 2360 x 1640 resolution and 500 nits of brightness -- same as the sixth-generation Apple iPad Air -- on its slightly smaller 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display.
