Kindle e-Book Reader Sells Out

Kindle e-Book Reader Sells OutIt arrived in a flurry of publicity last week – and immediately sold out. Amazon must be very pleased with the demand for its Kindle e-book reader, eventhough the reviews have been mixed.   It looks set to be one of the must-have tech toys for Christmas, so people must be breathing sighs of relief at the news on the device’s Amazon pagethat it should be back in stock by December 3.   Out of five possible stars, reviewers have so far only given in two-and-a-half, although there has been praise for the inbuilt Amazon store andease of downloading material via Sprint.   However, Kindle doesn’t support the widely used .pdf format, and others have wondered at some of the costs involved. That means not only the $400price of the Kindle itself, but such things as $15 monthly newspaper subscriptions.

The release notes are pretty exhaustive, and they reveal a few features that are minor improvements to the already available Apple Intelligence bundle.

The most notable addition is ChatGPT integration with Siri, which shifts things over to the OpenAI chatbot if Apple’s assistant can’t provide an answer. ChatGPT integration is also expanding within the Writing Tools set, thanks to the compose feature that lets users create fresh content and generate images.

I tested three travel eSIMs on a trip. It was more complicated than I thought
Testing the Holafly (left), Airalo (middle) and Nomad (right) eSIMs on the Oppo Find X8 series

If you’re considering traveling abroad, you’ve probably wondered how to save money on roaming costs. Carriers — both in the U.S. and abroad — are notorious for charging a considerable amount of money to use your phone in a foreign country, and this can quickly double, or even triple, your monthly phone bill.

For many years, the solution was simple:When traveling abroad, ensure you have an unlocked phone and buy a local SIM card when you arrive. This worked well in theory, and aside from problems with carriers locking handsets — which still exist now — it was the best way to travel.
