LG Nitro HD owners on AT&T, the wait for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is over. Well, almost–it’s over next week. Beginning on July 31, the smartphone owners will be given access to both Android 4.0 and LG’s Optimus 3.0 user interface.

While the upgrade won’t bring the LG Nitro HD completely up to date with the ever improving Android software, which currently sits at version 4.1 (Jelly Bean), it does still bring some major improvements. The most notable changes include things like new screen lock actions, a completely redesigned photo viewer and editor, a data usage monitor, and multitasking through the System Bar. Perhaps most intriguing is the Face Unlock feature that uses facial recognition to unlock your device. Not mentioned in the features list is the inevitable weird looks that people will give as you stare into your phone and wait for it to unlock for you.

If you’re one of the lucky ones that benefit from the impending update, head over to the site LG set up to walk you through the process. It features step-by-step instructions that will take you from preparation to installation when that fateful July day arrives. It’s worth noting that for the time being, the update can only be completed on a Windows machine. No word on when or if Mac support is on its way as well.

Hot on the heels of the LG Nitro HD update will be several others, including performance enhancement modifications to the HTC One X and HTC Inspire. Those are all planned for the next couple weeks.

The Apple Watch Series 10 sitting on top of a green bush.

There’s little doubt that the Apple Watch has become one of the most popular wearables. While it wasn’t the first smartwatch on the market by a long shot, Apple’s wearable seemed to find its stride more quickly than many of its rivals.

That’s not to say that the competition isn’t heating up. This year’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are worthy contenders thanks to improved performance and new health features. Nevertheless, the Apple Watch has had a cozy lead, erven though it sometimes feels like Apple is coasting by adding only iterative improvements each year.
