Images of the OnePlus One smartphone, together with its range of ‘StyleSwap’ swappable covers (above), have leaked online just a few days before the official unveiling of the much-anticipated handset.

To be clear, until the company pulls the wraps off its device on Wednesday, we won’t know for sure if the leaked material – which arrived via Android Authority forums – is genuine, but it’s nevertheless fun to take a quick look at what the phone’s maker might have in store for us.

First up, a profile shot of the One (below), a device which OnePlus boss Pete Lau has said will sport looks gorgeous enough to make it “more attractive than just about any phone on the market.” So, do you feel any tingling sensation or unexpected palpitation as you cast your eyes upon the image below?

oneplus one handsetAs for the StyleSwap covers, we first heard about these last month, and going by the leaked image, they certainly look pretty striking. Offering owners of the new handset a variety of ways to customize and protect their device, designs announced by the China-based company include silk, sandstone, denim, bamboo, and Kevlar, with those last three constructed from the actual material.

The ‘perfect smartphone’?

Former Oppo executive Lau created his OnePlus startup at the end of last year, and was quickly turning a lot of heads in the industry with bold claims that he was intending to build “the perfect smartphone.”

While some may have dismissed his talk as mere marketing guff, many have been taken by the specs and pricing of the forthcoming handset. Costing less than $400, the OnePlus One will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display, powerful Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 3100mAh battery.

The handset’s 13-megapixel, six-element Sony Exmor IMX214 rear camera features image stabilization and 4K video recording, as well as slow-motion recording at 720p, while on the front you’ll find a 5-megapixel camera.

The phone will run on the Android-based CyanogenMod operating system, and will go on sale through the company’s website, landing first in the US, UK, and Canada.

With the OnePlus One’s launch just a couple of days away, it won’t be too long before we’ll have some idea if Lau’s creation lives up to the hype. Be sure to check back Wednesday to find out more.

It’s official: The highly anticipated OnePlus 13 will launch internationally next month. The phone was announced weeks ago and launched first in China before its global debut.

According to OnePlus in India, the new phone will be available in three color options: Midnight Ocean, Black Eclipse, and Arctic Dawn. I found the best folding phone deal for Cyber Monday, and it’s not even close
OnePlus Open in Emerald Dusk held in hand.

Folding phones have come a long way in a very short time. In 2024, there are numerous foldables to choose from, many of which are really darn good. Unfortunately, a lot of them are still very expensive — making them out of reach for most people. Thankfully, that's changed (at least temporarily) with a Black Friday discount on the OnePlus Open.

Launched in October 2023, the OnePlus Open isn't the newest folding phone on the market today, but it remains one of the best. We happily recommend it at its normal retail price of $1,700, but for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it can be yours for just $1,200 — a very healthy savings of $500.

OnePlus 13 vs. Google Pixel 9 Pro: How does OnePlus fare against Google’s best?
Official OnePlus 13 product renders showing rear panel colors.

The OnePlus 13 has been out in China since Halloween, and it will be released in the U.S. and the world over early next year, if previous OnePlus phone releases are anything to go by. The latest OnePlus phone is the first phone in the series to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which will help it run every app and game smoother than ever, especially when combined with a bigger battery, storage space, and RAM. Then we have the Google Pixel 9 Pro, which is considered the iPhone of Android phones with a matte finish on the back and a flatter screen. These phones are great options if you want to upgrade your Android phone or break away from the Apple ecosystem. However, whichever phone you're going for depends on the urgency of upgrading the one you have right now, the features you're looking for, and what you can afford.

We've already seen how the OnePlus 13 fares against the OnePlus 12 and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now, here's how the OnePlus 13 compares to the Google Pixel 9 Pro.
