In addition to voice recognition and fingerprint recognition, your next cell phone may well sport “wind recognition.” Pantech became the first company to introduce this feature with the IM-S410 Sky, announced Thursday, which can’t “recognize” wind, per se, but can meter the amount of air that passes through it.
Though it’s an obvious novelty, Pantech has already cooked up a couple clever uses. For instance, blowing on your phone could be used as an extra input for games, as demonstrated by one where users can puff the petals off a flower. Likewise, Pantech envisions users blowing each other virtual kisses, and even using bit of breath to trigger the camera, eliminating the shake causing by pressing down on a button.
The IMS-S410 will launch in Korea on both the carriers SKT and KTF. Price has not yet been announced.
