In terms of music and radio streaming services, we are practically spoiled. From Spotify to Rdio to the recently-released Beats Music, there is no shortage of options out there. Still, Samsung decided it was time to enter the growing music streaming market by announcing Milk Music.

Questionable naming aside, Milk Music brings a library of 13 million tracks to the table, though the collection belongs to Slacker Radio. You can either go through 200 pre-made stations or just make your own, all of which is free of charge and, for a limited time, free of ads.

There are some limitations, however, one of which is the inability to purchase a song for offline listening. Samsung will allegedly consider such an option for a future update, however. In the meantime, you can choose to cache music in order to listen to music offline. The flow of music is unlimited, as well, though you can’t skip more than six times per hour.

Most annoying, perhaps, is the limited initial audience Milk Music has. At the time of this writing, you can only use the service on the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Mini, and the upcoming Galaxy S5. In addition, only owners of those devices in the United States can download the service. According to Samsung, it will consider bringing Milk Music to other markets and handsets, but for now, that’s the deal.

It is currently available for download from Google Play.

Google releases YouTube Music for Wear OS, refreshes apps with Material You design

Alongside the launch of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Wear OS 3, Google also announced new updates coming both to the newest iteration of its wearables operating system as well as the older version that powers most of its current smartwatches. It's bringing new apps like YouTube Music to the wrist, expanding support for some older features like Google Pay, and refreshing the look of older apps like Google Messages and Google Maps with Material You.

Some of the features Google is announcing today appear limited to the Galaxy Watch 4 by virtue of being limited to Wear OS 3. With the hardware improvements being made to the Galaxy Watch 4 (and Wear OS 3 devices in general), it makes a lot of sense that the company's focusing on this device. "We’re taking what we’ve learned from Wear OS and Tizen to jointly build what smartwatch users need. Compared to previous Wear OS smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 4 features a 2.5x shorter setup experience, up to 40 hours of battery life, optimized performance with app launch times 30 percent faster than before, and access to a huge ecosystem of apps and services," Google's Bjorn Kilburn, Director of Product Management for Wear wrote.

Samsung is now so far ahead in the folding phone game, will anyone else bother?
Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Quick quiz question for you: Name one other widely available folding smartphone that’s not made by Samsung? You probably can’t, and that’s because outside of China, Samsung has already beaten every other manufacturer into submission, and won the folding smartphone race with barely any challenge at all.

Except, is this a win to be celebrated by anyone, Samsung included? Possibly not. Domination on this scale may not push many to take on Samsung, and that’s not good news for folding smartphones in general.
Folding supremacy
Samsung has put eight years into the development of folding smartphone technology so far, and after using the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, it’s easy to see how far it has come since the release of the original Galaxy Fold, and just how much catching up potential opponents have to do.
