T-Mobile Drops Google In Europe

T-Mobile Drops Google In Europe

Mobile network T-Mobile is ringing them changes in Europe, and the big one is that it’s changing from Google to Yahoo as its mobile search provider, which has to come as a boost for the ailing search giant.

Not only with T-Mobile adopt Yahoo OneSearch, it’s inked partnerships with YouTube, MySpace, Bebo and Flickr, tapping into the burgeoning market for social networking, according to Vnunet.

Christopher Schläffer, group products and innovation officer at T-Mobile, said,

We are moving away from the web to something new. We are going to push the answers to the screen [from a] federation of content sources including the device portal, local search and people andcommunity search. With Yahoo, we combine our joint innovation power to bring the mobile internet even closer to our customers. OneSearch is a prime example here."   As if all thatwasn’t quite enough, T-Mobile will also be working with a number of instant messaging services, and has dropped data roaming charges in Western Europe to encourage the use of their newservices.

There’s more evidence the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim won’t be released for a while
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus resting on a bench, showcasing its flat sides.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in January is set to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup, although most likely without the S25 Slim. Despite recent leaks that suggested all four phones might make an appearance, another leak has emerged that supports the already well-supported idea of a second-quarter release for that phone.

A quick refresher: The Galaxy S25 Slim was discovered by its model number, SM-S937. That identifier is important. The latest One UI 7 beta has a list of carrier-specific phone models, according to Android Authority. It mentions the U.S. variants of the models, the SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938 — or the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, respectively. There's no mention of the S25 Slim.

The iPad Pro has been my most frequent — mind you, not my favorite — computing machine of choice for the past three years. It’s a ridiculously fast, amazingly fluid tablet with a great keyboard and a fantastic screen to go with it. It also gives me fits from time to time.

Stage Manager, for all its good intentions, is still stuck in a rut. I often connect to an external monitor when I am tired of squinting atand hunching my back over its 13-inch panel, which can't do proper multi-app windowing, nor is it large enough for running multiple apps side by side.

There’s a glaring issue with Nothing Phones, and it isn’t pretty
The rear panel and camera island on the Nothing Phone 2a.

I adore Nothing. It’s the first brand that redefined what it means to go bold with hardware design, UX aesthetics, and marketing in the past few years. The bright streak has continued well into 2024. The London-based upstart just pulled another surprise and beat big dogs like Samsung at rolling out the Android 15 update.

This company knows how to make a splash in meaningful ways. The Nothing Phone 2a, in particular, is my favorite. Digital Trends’ review fittingly labeled it as “a brilliant buy.” The recent glow-in-the-dark community edition trim was a true head-turner.
