T-Mobile Gets in Touch with the HTC TouchPro2

T-Mobile has announced it will begin offering the HTC TouchPro2 smartphone to customers on August 12, 2009—although the company is still being coy about how much it plans to charge for the Windows Mobile 6.1-bearing smartphone. The HTC TouchPro2 is designed to appeal primarily to business customers, and features HTC’s Straight Talk technology that offers a reasonable conference call experience using integrated asymmetric speakers and full-duplex acoustics.

“This summer, many people are balancing summer vacations and time away from the office with the pressures of the workplace,” said T-Mobile USA director of product marketing Travis Warren, in a statement. “We are pleased to announce the HTC Touch Pro2, a uniquely designed device that will help customers manage their day-to-day activities, whether they are in the office or working from an airport, the local playground, or the car.”

The HTC TouchPro2 features both 3G and Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) connectivity, along with a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, stereo Bluetooth, and a full QWERTY keypad for managing messages and email. The unit also sports a built-in GPS for supporting location-based services, along with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus for recording images and video. Of course, the phone also features the full Windows Mobile 6.1 suite, so users have access to Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, Exchange email, as well as mobile versions of Microsoft’s mainstream Office productivity applications. T-Mobile will be offering the phone in a “mocha” finish.

Again, T-Mobile hasn’t outlined what it plans to charge for the HTC TouchPro2, but that information should be available when it hits T-Mobile retail stores and authorized dealers mid-month.

Don’t buy the wrong iPad during Prime Day! Here’s the only one you should get
Someone holding the yellow iPad (2022) in front of trees with orange, yellow leaves.

Another Amazon Prime Day is upon us, which means it's another prime time of year to buy a new iPad for yourself or as an early holiday gift for a loved one. In typical fashion, it's not just Amazon offering killer deals.

Best Buy is running its own sale alongside this latest Prime Day, and it includes a lot of discounted iPads — including the old 9th Gen iPad, the iPad mini, and multiple versions of the iPad Pro. They're all tempting deals, but you shouldn't bother with any of them. If you buy a new iPad during Prime Day, you need to make sure it's the 10th Gen iPad.

T-Mobile has been fined millions of dollars. Here are all the details
T-Mobile smartphone.

There's an expectation of privacy and security from your mobile provider. That's why a series of T-Mobile data breaches from 2021 through January of this year caused so much concern. Over 130 million customers were affected, and their addresses, dates of birth, and sometimes even Social Security numbers were exposed in the attacks.

T-Mobile has reached a settlement with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding the data breaches. The company is on the hook for $15.75 million in fines, but it is also paying for an additional $15.75 million in infrastructure improvements to improve its cybersecurity. The settlement also includes several actionable steps on T-Mobile's part.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is a cool (but confusing) new Android phone
The back of the Xiaomi 14T Pro.

Xiaomi’s T-series smartphones are always quite confusing, as you may expect them to be a straight mid-generation upgrade over the older non-T series phone. However, this is not always so, and the Xiaomi 14T Pro proves it.

The design has undergone some changes compared to the Xiaomi 14 Pro, with the camera module on the back taking on a more iPhone-like style. The flattened aluminum chassis gives a similar in-hand feel to recent iPhone models, too. It can’t hide its 209-gram weight or the 8.3mm thickness, making it a very substantial phone. It does feel high-quality and suitably durable, plus the 14T Pro has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
