T-Mobile has announced it will begin offering the HTC TouchPro2 smartphone to customers on August 12, 2009—although the company is still being coy about how much it plans to charge for the Windows Mobile 6.1-bearing smartphone. The HTC TouchPro2 is designed to appeal primarily to business customers, and features HTC’s Straight Talk technology that offers a reasonable conference call experience using integrated asymmetric speakers and full-duplex acoustics.
“This summer, many people are balancing summer vacations and time away from the office with the pressures of the workplace,” said T-Mobile USA director of product marketing Travis Warren, in a statement. “We are pleased to announce the HTC Touch Pro2, a uniquely designed device that will help customers manage their day-to-day activities, whether they are in the office or working from an airport, the local playground, or the car.”
The HTC TouchPro2 features both 3G and Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) connectivity, along with a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, stereo Bluetooth, and a full QWERTY keypad for managing messages and email. The unit also sports a built-in GPS for supporting location-based services, along with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus for recording images and video. Of course, the phone also features the full Windows Mobile 6.1 suite, so users have access to Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, Exchange email, as well as mobile versions of Microsoft’s mainstream Office productivity applications. T-Mobile will be offering the phone in a “mocha” finish.
Again, T-Mobile hasn’t outlined what it plans to charge for the HTC TouchPro2, but that information should be available when it hits T-Mobile retail stores and authorized dealers mid-month.
