At a celeb-studded wingding on Beverly Hills last night, T-Mobile pressed home the idea of a Sidekick mobile device as a fashion accessory, unveiling two special edition Sidekick mobile devices sporting designs by Diane von Furstenberg and the Lifted Research Group.
“T-Mobile understands that consumers want products that help them connect in style. By partnering with iconic brands like Diane von Furstenberg and L-R-G, T-Mobile continues to lead the way in delivering innovative and fashion-forward devices that let our customers express their personal style,” said Greg Andrews, director, youth marketing, T-Mobile USA, Inc., in a release.
The design from Diane von Furstenberg features a black Sidekick body highlighted with red lip-prints on the front face; the Lifted Research Group opted for a green body with small arrow-shaped prints on the Sidekick’s front face. The limited edition Sidekicks will be available at selected T-Mobile retail locations while supplies last beginning October 30. No pricing information has been released.
The Sidekicks serve as both 1.3 megapixel cameras and cell phones, and also offer email, instant messaging, and Web browsing capabilities; the devices also act as MP3 players, offer Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and feature a unique trackball to assist navigation.
