It’s not every day a mobile operator can announce that it has doubled the number of phones which support its top-flight content offerings…but that’s exactly what Verizon Wireless was able to do today by adding the LG VX9400 to its list of offerings which support its new V Cast Mobile TV service.
The VX 9400 is a CDMA handset offering EV-DO high speed mobile data services and sports a 2.2-inch 320 by 240 pixel LCD display which can swivel between portrait and landscape modes using a “swingbar” design. The phone also offers a 1.3 megapixel video-capable camera, Bluetooth wireless networking, microSD media support, speakerphone, and a music-only mode for becoming one with your latest tunes. Of course, the VX9400 also sports the usual panplly of phone applications (calculator, calendar, world clock, address books, etc.), and in addition to supporting Verizon’s V Cast Mobile TV, you can tap into V Cast Mobile Music, V Cast Video, and location-based navigation services—not to mention email, instant messaging, and MMS messaging services.
The VX9400 is priced at $249.99 with a two-year contract, but Verizon is offering a $50 online discount bringing the end cost down to $199.99. Of course, if you’re just dying to try out V Cast Mobile TV, make sure you’re in one of the selected metropolitan areas where service is available: it’s not everywhere on Verizon’s network yet.
