It’s not every day that one of the best flagship smartphones goes on sale, but recently, retailers seem to be feeling generous. Walmart recently announced that the iPhone 5S will cost you just $80 with a two-year contract and now RadioShack says it’ll give you the Samsung Galaxy S5 for the same price with a two-year contract on Verizon.

Starting Friday, new and existing Verizon Wireless customers can purchase a Galaxy S5 at any RadioShack store for just $80 with a two-year contract. Typically, the Galaxy S5 costs $200 with a two-year contract, so this is an incredible deal for those of you who are looking to upgrade your smartphone to the latest and greatest from Samsung.

The Galaxy S5 features a sharp 5.1-inch 1080p resolution screen and is powered by a mighty quad-core 2.5GHz processor alongside 2GB of RAM. The device has a great a 16-megapixel back camera and comes with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a MicroSD card. The flagship smartphone also has decent battery life, thanks to a 2,800mAh battery. It runs the latest version of Android KitKat, so you don’t have to worry about being behind the times in terms of software.

The Galaxy S5 also has several interesting special features, such as the fingerprint sensor for additional security, a heart rate monitor aimed at exercise enthusiasts, and a dust and water resistant rating of IP67 for those of you who constantly spill water all over your devices. In our review, we found the Galaxy S5 to be a superior flagship smartphone and perhaps one of the best from 2014 so far.

samsung galaxy s24 fe review 18

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is due to release in January, and we've heard next to nothing about the Galaxy S26. Why, then, did we just get the first details on the Galaxy S27? The release is a full generation away, but Samsung is reportedly already working on the chipset.

Dubbed "Ulysses," this new Exynos chipset is still in the earliest stages of development. Mass production is planned in 2026, but a lot can happen between now and then. Tipster Jukanlosreve first noticed the news on the Korean site SEDaily. The article is written in Korean, but I found the translation to be easy enough to understand. Fair warning: Google Translate doesn't handle formatting well.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy S23 FE side by side.

Samsung’s strategy with its smartphone portfolio in 2024 has focused more on subtle hardware refinements and a deep software-level overhaul. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, however, is somewhat of an exception, as it supersizes the generation-over-generation upgrade formula without missing the software-side bells and whistles. With its latest Fan Edition phone, the internals aren’t serving up any unexpectedly powerful lift, and the looks haven’t changed either. But for folks who like to hold on to their phones for a healthy few years, the Galaxy S24 FE comes out swinging with some compelling benefits.

But where does it fall if you're already using another Fan Edition? The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE remains a solid smartphone, and if you're still using one, you may be wondering if it's time to upgrade. If you’ve been of two minds about this, read on, as we’ve broken down the most notable differences between the Galaxy S24 FE and its predecessor.
