Love Actually (2003)
Whether you’re in the camp that believes Love Actually to be a Christmas movie or not, there’s no denying that it’s a rom-com, and one of the best of the last two decades at that. The ensemble cast and interweaving stories that touch on all types of love, not just romantic love, will leave you in tears, both of joy and sadness. It doesn’t matter how many times you watch the movie, it never gets old.
There are elements of humor, regret, sorrow, and sweetness as you follow stories of an aging pop star who recognizes what’s truly important, a young British man exploring casual love in America, unrequited love, the strains of marriage, the pull of familial obligation, and budding young love.
Love Actually has serious talent among its cast, including rising stars at the time who have now become household names. It’s one of those movies worth watching every year, especially around the holidays.

The Rebound (2009)
The Rebound didn’t get a fair shake when it first debuted, largely because the distributor shut down before release, resulting in the rom-com becoming a direct-to-DVD film. But the combination of Catherine Zeta-Jones and rom-com pro Justin Bartha, along with the interesting story, will have you curious to see how it all plays out.
Zeta-Jones is Sandy, a recently divorced mother of two who meets and befriends a young and aimless barista named Aram (Bartha) ,who is going through a separation of his own. The pair begin a whirlwind romance, despite their 15-year age difference. But the fact that they’re in very different places in their lives, coming from completely different generations, stands in the way of long-term happiness. But should it? If you’re looking for a fun, yet predictable rom-com you haven’t watched yet, The Rebound is a solid choice.

A Christmas Spark (2022)
Don’t discount A Christmas Spark: It’s more than just a cheesy Lifetime Christmas movie. The rom-com has a tremendous cast led by Jane Seymour, and it’s a refreshing take on love for mature adults. Molly (Seymour) is recently widowed and decides to visit her daughter for Christmas. Looking for something to fill her time, she signs up to direct the town’s Christmas pageant, using her experience as a former drama teacher. There, she meets and falls for Hank (Joe Lando), who just so happens to be the town’s most sought-after eligible bachelor.
While Molly has always been tied down, Hank is a free spirit who helps her let loose and reignite her passion for life after loss. It’s her moment to shine, and she gets the opportunity to do so in more ways than one. Produced by a team that includes singer Toni Braxton, A Christmas Spark is a wonderful feel-good story that hits all the right notes this month.
