The Avengers get Friendified opening theme, and it’s hilarious

A recent video posted on YouTube seems to make a pretty good case for Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and the rest of the team being pretty good pals — but that could just be because it’s set to the theme song from ’90s sitcom Friends, which makes everything seem more, well… friendly (clap, clap, clap, clap), and also pretty ridiculous.

Created by YouTube user Jeremiah Rivera, who previously created a Friends-themed opening for the Harry Potter franchise, the video is a montage of scenes from The Avengers and various Avengers: Age of Ultron trailers. Favorite moment: The one where Hulk slams around Loki to the annoyingly iconic clapping part referenced above.

Maybe it’s the editing skills of the video’s creator — or possibly that ridiculous font — but this opening theme makes a convincing argument for a new sitcom in which Captain America and Thor share an apartment across the hall from Black Widow and Hawkeye, and Bruce Banner occasionally meets them at the first-floor coffee shop owned by Tony Stark.

Be honest: We’d all watch it.

Marvel's Avengers, which recently created controversy for making Spider-Man an exclusive character for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, may eventually add X-Men to its cast of characters.

The license for Marvel's Avengers extends to all of Marvel's history of more than 80 years, the game's creative director Shaun Escayg said in an interview hosted by PlayStation Trophies.

What’s in ‘The Box’?!? Why this cult sci-fi movie is still an intriguing mess after all these years

Richard Kelly is (or, more precisely, was) a polarizing figure in Hollywood. He only directed three movies during his career, the first being his 2001 cult classic Donnie Darko, which thrust him onto the global stage as an emerging filmmaker. But then came his sophomoric film, Southland Tales, in 2006. The movie was a trainwreck, albeit a gloriously absurd trainwreck, that was so confusing and clumsy it was booed at its Cannes premiere.

Then came Kelly’s third (and final?) film, The Box. Released in 2009, the movie starred Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a down-on-their-luck couple with a young son. One day, a mysterious package arrives, revealed to be a box containing a singular button. The following day an even more mysterious man (Frank Langella) arrives to explain the rules. If they push the button, they get $1 million… but someone they don't know will die. After a bit of debating, they decide to press the button.
