Batman V. Superman synopsis hints at a partnership for the greater good

Batman vs Superman
Warner Bros.
Batman and Superman will have more to contend with than just each other in the upcoming collision of worlds, Batman: V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. That’s according to the recently-released official synopsis for the 2016 film.

With Warner Bros. Pictures making a big splash at this year’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, the studio has accompanied all of that buzz with the very first, officially sanctioned breakdown of the plot for Batman V. Superman — and it hints at a much greater threat facing both heroes.

The synopsis reads as follows:

While the clash between Batman and Superman was a certainty (it is in the title, after all), there’s been no shortage of rumors regarding the probability of a threat — including yet another DC Comics supervillain — that could force the two superheroes to set aside their feud and unite against a common enemy.

Along with Henry Cavill reprising his Man of Steel role as Superman, Batman V. Superman features the debut of Ben Affleck as Batman, as well as Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Jeremy Irons will also take on the role of Alfred Pennyworth, butler to Batman’s alter ego, billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne.

The film also features the return of Man of Steel cast members Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane, as well as the introduction of a new character played by Holly Hunter that was created for the movie.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is based on a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. The film is scheduled to hit theaters March 25, 2016.

All this has given the franchise a mixed reputation and has made some audiences eager to see how James Gunn will reboot everything with his new DC Universe. As the DCEU nears its end, now is a good time to rank the most popular movies in this cinematic universe in terms of box-office gross.
