Matt Damon returns as Jason Bourne in first Bourne 2016 set photo

matt damon reveals new plot details to bourne film number five jason
Universal Pictures
There may not be a title for Bourne 2016 yet, but the upcoming fifth installment in the Bourne film franchise has begun filming. Co-producer Frank Marshall tweeted the exciting news Tuesday, including a photo of Matt Damon, who is making his highly anticipated return as the movie’s star, Jason.

Even though eight years have passed since Damon last starred as the amnesia-affected assassin, he’s clearly maintained his secret agent level of fitness. He’ll need it, given how many fight scenes he’ll likely be shooting over the course of production. Although plot details are scarce at this point, we know that Bourne will be on the run from at least one character, played by franchise newcomer Vincent Cassel.

In the photo, Damon is shown in costume (or half of one at least), wrapping one of his hands. He’s shirtless and somewhat dirtied up — so basically, Bourne looks the same as he always does. Behind him, enveloped by mountain scenery, is a crowd of people witnessing his triumphal return.

In an interview with Buzzfeed in late August, Damon revealed that the upcoming film will follow his character “through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world.” It turns out that we have Snowden and other political events to thank for his decision to return. Both he and director Paul Greengrass decided the time was right for another Bourne film, and they co-wrote the script with editor Christopher Rouse.

Bourne 2016 also brings back Julia Stiles as agent Nicky Parsons, while Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander are involved for the first time.

The fifth film in the Bourne franchise is expected to open in theaters on July 29, 2016.

Aarron Taylor-Johnson in the official poster for "Kraven the Hunter."

Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) has not gone according to plan. Several SSU entries, including Morbius and Madame Web, have been either critically reviled or box office failures. The three Venom films have all been profitable but garnered a negative reception. J.C. Chandor is hoping his film, Kraven the Hunter, will turn the SSU in a positive direction.

While speaking with Comicbook.com, Chandor acknowledged the criticisms of Sony's previous Spider-Man films. Chandor is hoping that fans will watch Kraven with an open mind and not let the SSU's negative reception cloud their judgment.

A man and woman stand across and face each other.

Yellowstone season 5, part 2 wasted no time addressing Kevin Costner's departure. John Dutton is dead, and now his children are in an all-out war. On one side, Jamie (Wes Bentley) is plotting to take over his father's position as governor of Montana. On the other side, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) are looking into how their father died, with Beth convinced that Jamie orchestrated the murder.

With only four episodes remaining, Taylor Sheridan still has many loose ends to tie up. Something tells us that John won't be the only Dutton to die this season. Find out how to watch the next episode of Yellowstone below.
