Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew has taken to Twitter to share a plethora of fascinating behind-the-scenes pictures from the filming of the original Star Wars trilogy. While some of the images have been seen in various places down the years, many are being published for the first time.

Notable pictures include an 11 year-old Warwick Davis (who starred as the Ewok Wicket) posing with Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and an early version of the C-3PO costume. Other shots cover script readings, make up routines and on-set parties, including one of Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) celebrating his birthday.

Head to Mayhew’s Twitter feed and you can see a scale model of a Star Destroyer, several Bantha shots, and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) fooling around with a blaster pistol. The captions he’s posted underneath each of the images are well worth reading through as well.

It’s a real treasure trove for anyone interested in the Star Wars series and should keep you going until the next set of films in 2015. Speaking of the next instalments in the series, here’s everything we know so far about what’s around the corner.

The Acolyte is over, but I still have some questions about the divisive Star Wars series
A group of Jedi stand ready to fight in The Acolyte.

With the first season out of the way, The Acolyte has plenty of juicy threads to pick up on in a possible second season. Whether it's how Yoda will react to the whole situation, the future of Osha's journey to the dark side, or what happened in Qimir's past -- there are plenty of deliberate cliffhangers to speculate about.

But there are a few more questions pertinent to this season that I felt were left dangling. Whether purposefully left ambiguous or not, these are the five questions still rattling around in my head over a week out from watching episode 8 of The Acolyte -- some of which I wish had been explored in more depth.
What was really happening with the Ascension?
