We’re certainly not alone in looking forward to the return of Doctor Who, BBC America’s wildly popular science-fiction series that first kicked off more than 40 years ago and is still going strong. During this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego, fans were finally given an official return date for the series, which went on mid-season hiatus in June, and were treated to a new trailer for the second half of the season.
According to BBC America, The Doctor and his companions will continue their adventures August 27, and from the looks of things, those adventures will include enemies old and new, some life-threatening danger, and an episode in which The Doctor, well… saves Adolf Hitler’s life. (He seems as surprised as everyone else at that one.)
The trailer also hints at the return of classic Doctor Who villains like the Cybermen, as well as modern favorites like the Weeping Angels. The mystery of The Doctor’s death in the season premiere also looks to play a big role in the rest of the season’s adventures.
The trailer closes with The Doctor asking fans, “Haven’t you figured that one out yet?”
BBC America also released a new teaser image (posted above) for the second half of the season, featuring The Doctor (Matt Smith), Amy (Karen Gillan), Rory (Arthur Darvill), and River Song (Alex Kingston) flanked by one of the creepy creatures known as The Silence and the mysterious “Impossible Astronaut” that debuted in the season premiere.
