Some streaming services are better built for television than for movies. Peacock is an excellent home for NBC’s shows and all of the TV programing from across Comcast’s media empire. But the film selection can be limited if you’re looking for great movies.

Luckily for you, we’ve already combed through Peacock’s meager library to bring you five great movies that you need to watch this Thanksgiving. These are all terrific films in their own way, and there should be enough drama, action, and comedy to please movie lovers of all stripes.

Interstellar (2014)

Christopher Nolan shot for the moon, so-to-speak, with his sci-fi epic Interstellar, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. In the near future, Earth is dying and humanity will soon follow unless former NASA pilot Joseph “Coop” Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) joins Dr. Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) on a journey into space to find a new home for the survivors.

Coop’s star trek carries a heavy cost, as his children grow up without him. His daughter, Murphy “Murph” Cooper (Jessica Chastain), may be the only one who can figure out how to get the last humans off planet Earth before it’s too late. But Coop can’t come home until he’s finished his mission, no matter how long it takes.

The Fall Guy (2024)

Universal Pictures

The Fall Guy didn’t fall short of expectations this summer because it was a bad movie. It just didn’t help that it’s an action comedy that was only loosely based on an ’80s TV show that few people still remember. Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a stuntman who left Hollywood behind after a severe on-set accident.

Colt is convinced to get back in the game when his ex-lover, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), needs his expertise on her directorial debut. However, Jody isn’t pleased to see Colt after their bad breakup. But they have even bigger problems ahead when Jody’s leading man, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), disappears before her movie is finished. If Colt can’t track down Tom, then Jody’s career will be over before it really starts.

The Truman Show (1998)

Some people would do anything to be TV stars. But Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) isn’t even aware that his entire life is a television program. Director Peter Weir’s The Truman Show eerily predicts social media with the frenzy surrounding Truman’s every move. There’s almost nowhere Truman can go without a camera keeping an eye on him.

For decades, Christof (Ed Harris) has subtly guided Truman’s life, and even cast a woman, Meryl (Laura Linney), as his wife. Truman may be good-natured, but he’s not stupid. Once he notices too many coincidences, Truman begins to realize that his life is a lie. And there’s only one thing that Truman has to say to his “creator.” But you’ll have to watch the movie to see that.

Hidden Figures (2016)

Hidden Figures gets its name from a nonfiction book about three Black women who were incredibly gifted mathematicians that helped NASA send astronauts into space. The names of Katherine Goble Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) would probably have been forgotten if not for Margot Lee Shetterly’s book and this film.

Some of the men at NASA, including director Al Harrison (Yellowstone‘s Kevin Costner) and astronaut John Glenn (Twisters star Glen Powell), are supportive of the women. But for the most part, this trio has to fight for their right simply to be recognized by their peers for what they bring to the project.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)

Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge!
20th Century Studios

Two decades before director Baz Luhrmann brought Elvis to the big screen, he had an even more audacious musical called Moulin Rouge! Ewan McGregor stars as Christian, a young writer at the turn of the 20th century in Paris. Christian wants to make a name for himself by writing a play at the cabaret Moulin Rouge, but his plans are upended when he meets the star performer, Satine (Nicole Kidman).

Satine was supposed to seduce the Duke of Monroth (Richard Roxburgh) to appease her boss, Harold Zidler (Jim Broadbent). Instead, she finds herself falling in love with Christian, even though they may never be able to fully be together. Not every love story works out the way you want it, but it burns brightly in this film. And the songs are still catchy over two decades later.

Yellowstone is over (for now). Here are 5 similar shows you should watch right now
Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler lay down next to each other in Yellowstone.

The phenomenon that was Yellowstone is over, at least for now. The series, which starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, a Montana rancher who ardently defends his way of life, ran for five seasons and had a tumultuous run, to say the least.

While there's news about a potential spinoff, as well as several other shows in the same universe, Yellowstone proper has come to an end. If you're looking for something to fill the void, though, we've put together a list of other shows that have a lot in common with Yellowstone. We've mostly avoided filling this list with other shows from Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone's creator (although we did fit one on there), and we also didn't list any other shows about the Duttons. Still, these shows might scratch the same itch:
