5 movies leaving Hulu in October 2024 you have to watch

Ordinarily, making a list of of the five movies leaving Hulu in October that you have to watch wouldn’t be a challenge. But there are literally only six movies leaving Hulu at the end of this month, and four of them are The Omen and its three sequels. So unless you really like The Omen, this would have been a very boring list. The other two titles leaving this month, Christmas on the Farm and Sea Fever, probably won’t be missed by many movie lovers.

Since we still have a list to write this month, we’re just cheating a little by drawing on movies that are leaving Hulu in the middle of November. And somehow we suspect these will go over a lot better than an all-Omen list.

Catch the Fair One (2021)

Kali Reis in Catch the Fair Ones.
IFC Films

You may recognize Kali Reis from her starring role in True Detective: Night Country, but before she headlined that HBO show, she had a starring role in Catch the Fair One. Reis plays Kaylee, a former boxer turned drug addict who is desperately searching for her sister, Weeta (Mainaku Borrero). Kaylee knows that her sister is a victim of sex trafficking, so she does everything she can to be trafficked herself so she can find her.

Bobby (Daniel Henshall), one of the men in charge of the sex trafficking ring, immediately recognizes Kaylee and tries to have her silenced. But he’s badly underestimated Kaylee’s drive, and now that she finally has a lead, she won’t stop until she has her sister back.

I Kill Giants (2017)

Madison Wolfe in I Kill Giants.
RLJE Films

I Kill Giants is based on a comic book of the same name, and it centers on a girl named Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe), whose imagination may be a little too wild to handle. To deal with her personal tragedy and her bullies, Barbara has created an elaborate fantasy world and cast herself as a heroic giant killer.

The school therapist, Mrs. Mollé (Emilia Pérez‘s Zoe Saldana), does everything she can to try to reach Barbara, yet it’s one of Barbara’s new classmates, Sophia (Sydney Wade), who convinces her to lower her defenses. However, even the friendship between Barbara and Sophia may not be enough to save the former from her own personal demons.

Bone Tomahawk (2015)

Kurt Russell is almost always a good fit for a Western story, and Bone Tomahawk is no exception. Russell plays Franklin Hunt, a no-nonsense sheriff in the last days of the Old West. When an outlaw named Purvis (David Arquette) comes to town, Hunt’s not above shooting him in the leg to keep him from getting away. But soon after, Purvis, Samantha O’Dwyer (Lili Simmons) — the wife of the town’s doctor — and Deputy Nick (Evan Jonigkeit) all disappear. And their captors are apparently a cannibalistic Native American clan.

Hunt and Samantha’s husband, Arthur O’Dwyer (Patrick Wilson), are among the men who form a rescue party. However, they aren’t prepared for the dangers ahead, and there may not be any among them who make it home alive.

Terminal (2018)

Margot Robbie in Terminal.
RLJE Films

Margot Robbie was already a star when she made Terminal, but not the megastar she became after headlining Barbie. This neo-noir thriller was divisive among critics, but Robbie was praised for her performance as Annie, a young waitress who befriends Bill (Simon Pegg), a terminally ill man.

However, Annie is far more than she appears to be, and Bill isn’t simply some random guy. There’s an underlying connection between their shared history that plays out in the film, with a few surprises along the way. And just because Annie can make herself seem normal, it never means that she isn’t dangerous.

Dual (2022)

Karen Gillan and Aaron Paul in Dual.
RLJE Films

Are two Karen Gillans better than one? Her character doesn’t think so in Dual. Gillian plays Sarah, a terminally ill young woman who has herself cloned to spare her boyfriend, Peter (Beulah Koale), and her mother (Maija Paunio), from suffering any undue emotional stress. But when Sarah recovers, she discovers that her mom and her boyfriend like the clone better than they like her.

To make matters worse, only one version of Sarah is allowed to live in this near-future world. In order to decide which Sarah will live, they will have a duel to the death. The real Sarah turns to a man named Trent (Aaron Paul) to train her for the battle, but she can’t stop herself from wondering what the other Sarah is doing to prepare.

For many of the fantastic movies on this list, you have until Halloween night to watch before they’re gone from Amazon Prime Video. The wonderful thing about the streaming service, to which you can subscribe on its own or as part of an Amazon Prime subscription, is that there’s always a wide selection of movies and TV shows, including library titles and originals. But when it comes to the former, sometimes, they are removed from the service without warning. Consider us your red alert.

If you love any of these movies or have been meaning to watch them, including all the Lord of the Rings movies, you’ll want to carve out some time this month because they will be gone from the streamer soon. These five movies leaving Amazon Prime Video in October 2024 are streaming for another week or so.

3 sci-fi movies on Hulu you need to watch in October 2024
Two people look in horror in Underwater.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes are both back on Hulu this month after a short hiatus while they were on other streamers. But for the sake of everyone's sanity, neither will be featured among the three sci-fi movies on Hulu that you need to watch in October. The Planet of the Apes reboot movies are great, but we've written about them so many times that it's a good opportunity to turn our attention to some of Hulu's other sci-fi flicks.

Our picks for October are all sci-fi/horror films, which is only fitting since Halloween is just a few weeks away. But all three are very distinct stories, and you'll find different kinds of scares from each of them.
