The upcoming Godzilla will feature creatures other than Godzilla, and the new trailer gives us our first solid look at one of the creatures. If you weren’t excited for the film before, and the addition of multiple creatures doesn’t do it for you, then consider letting joy into your heart for a change.

The franchise reboot from director Gareth Edwards has already suggested that it would feature multiple monsters, but this teaser shows the first completely clear shot of a creature not named Godzilla, at around the 1:18 mark. The inclusion of the nightmare-sized insect isn’t in itself surprising, though. It has been hinted at before, and the official statement for the film reads:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The film also stars Bryan Cranston as a nuclear physicist whose assertions that monsters are roaming the world is ignored. He is joined by his soldier son Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Johnson’s wife. Fun/creepy fact: Johnson and Olsen will next appear together in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but as brother and sister rather than husband and wife. Sorry for that image.

Godzilla hits theaters on May 16.

Update: The article has been updated to correct an error that identified the monster as Mothra. The creature actually looks more like Rodan from the old Toho movies, but it may end up being be an original monster due in part to legal reasons.

Why aren’t there more monster movies?
Godzilla and Kong race into battle in a still from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Hollywood is (still) in its superhero craze, and in the past, it’s had a zombie craze, a vampire craze, a slasher craze, and more. The entertainment industry also pumps out a yearly supply of generic Christmas movies that are always the same, and formulaic rom-coms have been released virtually unchanged since the 1960s. Clearly, Hollywood doesn’t care if it repeats itself over and over again. So then, why do we get so few monster movies?

The realism of most genres definitely has its place in film since it can help add emotional weight to a story. But c’mon, how many bitter dramas and gritty noirs can a person watch before they want something big, loud, colorful, and epic?

Bagman trailer pits Sam Claflin against an evil creature
A man looks scared as he speaks while sitting next to his wife.

"No matter where you try to run and hide, he always knows where to find you," Sam Claflin says in Lionsgate's chilling trailer for Bagman.

The titular Bagman is an evil creature that snatches children, stuffs them into his bag, and eats them. The Bagman allegedly prefers to prey on "nice" children by luring them into his cave with toys and feeding off their fear and anxiety. Once the Bagman secures a child in his bag, they are never to be seen again.
