3 great free movies to stream this weekend (November 1-3)

A dirtied James Bond stands on a road.
United Artists Releasing

Last weekend, Tom Hardy said goodbye to the symbiote in Venom: The Last Dance. Billed as the final film in the Venom trilogy, The Last Dance opened to a franchise-low $51 million domestic box office haul. Still, that’s a good opening weekend, especially considering these films have garnered negative reviews. Who would have thought The Last Dance would open better than JokerFolie à Deux in the U.S.?

Knives Out (2019)

Lakeith Stanfield, Noah Segan, and Daniel Craig in Rian Johnson's whodunit Knives Out.
Lionsgate

During the 2019 Thanksgiving weekend, Rian Johnson released Knives Out, his first feature film since the polarizing Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Inspired by Agatha Christie’s novels, Johnson’s Knives Out was a clever whodunit with a standout lead performance from Daniel Craig and a terrific supporting cast. The original story became a smash hit, leading to two sequels on Netflix.

Before the arrival of Knives Out 3, relive Knives Out for its 5th anniversary. Crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is murdered in his Massachusetts mansion. The suspects include his egotistical children and Harlan’s meek nurse, Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas). Only one man can solve this case: Benoit Blanc (Craig), a private detective with a slick Southern accent. It’s up to Blanc to smoke out the truth in a room full of liars.

No Time to Die (2021)

Can you believe it’s been three years since No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond? Unfortunately, the Broccoli family is taking its time finding Craig’s successor, meaning a new Bond film won’t arrive until 2026 at the earliest. Until then, all we can do is live in the past and enjoy previous Bond adventures.

In No Time to Die, James Bond (Craig) finally gets to escape the madness and live with his love, Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux). However, an ill-timed explosion on their getaway causes Bond to break up with Swann, believing she betrayed him. Five years later, a retired Bond is recruited by his pal, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), to extract a scientist from a Spectre party. The mission proves costly, as it puts 007 in the crosshairs of a new villain (Rami Malek) with ties to Swann’s past.

Little Giants (1994)

Two football coaches stand in front of each other on a football field.
Warner Bros.

College football and the NFL are in full swing, with the sport seemingly on almost every night. Football movies are serious, but they can also be silly, as evidenced by Little Giants. In Ohio, brothers Danny (Rick Moranis) and Kevin (Ed O’Neill) O’Shea are complete opposites. Danny is a kind nerd, while Kevin is a former football star. Kevin coaches the town’s “Pee-Wee Cowboys,” a kids’ football team.

Danny’s daughter, Becky “Icebox” O’Shea, is the town’s best player, but Kevin cuts her from the team because she’s a girl. Becky’s less-talented friends are also cut from the team. Down but not out, Becky convinces Danny to start another pee-wee football team with all of the outcasts. Wanting to stand up to his brother, Danny agrees and starts the Giants. It all culminates with a game between the Cowboys and Giants. It’s brains versus brawn in this delightful family movie.
