Yesterday, we directed your attention to the recently launched website for Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi adventure that has managed to maintain quite a bit of mystery in the lead-up to its November 2014 premiere in theaters. At least one of the puzzles posed by the website appears to have been solved, however, with visitors now able to view the latest trailer for the film by inputting a no-longer-secret code.
As we indicated previously, a flashing constellation of stars that appeared on the website when visitors viewed it at night (the site changes according to visitors’ local time) made reference to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. When the site recently began asking visitors to submit a code, the date of the landing — July 20, 1969 — could be entered as “7201969” to unlock the third trailer for the film.
This trailer for Interstellar unlocked by the code is the same preview screened at Comic-Con International in San Diego that created quite a positive buzz when viewed on the massive screen at the convention center. To see it yourself, just head over to InterstellarMovie.com and submit that code. Or hit play on the embed below. It’s a grand, atmospheric sort of trailer that offers a slightly deeper look into the cosmic aspects of the story that remain largely a mystery at this point.
Interstellar hits theaters November 7 and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, and Topher Grace.
