The official title of director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel is now confirmed by Warner Bros.: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (via Variety). We can all finally stop referring to the long-untitled sequel as “the Man of Steel sequel” or “Man of Steel 2” or “Batman vs. Superman” and start using its official title… Batman V Superman.

News is funny sometimes.

There’s no word yet on the plot, but the title suggests a couple of things. First, that Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman will spend some portion of the movie at odds with one another. Second, the Dawn of Justice story will likely plant the seeds for Warner Bros.’ planned Justice League movie. Both of these possibilities had been the target of speculation already, especially after Gal Gadot was cast as future Justice Leaguer Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. It’s nice to have something official to go on though.

The production is expected to visit multiple locations, including Detroit, parts of Illinois, Africa, and the South Pacific.

Snyder recently shared a first look at Affleck in full Batman regalia, as well as an early peek at the new Batmobile. It’s somewhat surprising to see the Caped Crusader’s name appearing first in the title, given that this is technically a sequel to Snyder’s re-telling of Superman’s origin story. Between the recent photo shares and the now-confirmed title, it’s looking more and more likely that Affleck’s first appearance as Bruce Wayne will be a beefy one.

We’ll find out on May 6, 2016 when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters.

30 years ago, Peter Jackson paved the way to Lord of the Rings with this fantastical crime movie
Two girls hold hands in Heavenly Creatures.

The year 1994 was a seminal one for entertainment: television changed forever with the premiere of two iconic shows; two movies often considered among the all-time best came out to rave reviews; an underrated gem of cinema also premiered, but was largely ignored. Yes, many major movies came out in 1994, a year also infamously remembered for featuring so few "good" female performances that the Best Actress Oscar category had trouble filling out five slots. And yet, it's curious that the two best female performances from the year weren't nominated and were, in fact, outright ignored throughout awards season.

Thirty years ago, future Oscar-winner Kate Winslet and Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey made their feature film debuts in Peter Jackson's biographical crime drama Heavenly Creatures. Based on the sordid real-life Parker-Hulme murder case that shook New Zealand in the mid-1950s, Heavenly Creatures was a bold and showstopping debut for two actresses who, over the years, would prove themselves among the best and most versatile of their generation. And yet, it's barely mentioned today as a highlight for Jackson, Winslet, or Lynskey, and is largely overshadowed by rings, sinking ships, and cannibal cheerleaders. On its 30th anniversary, Digital Trends looks back at Heavenly Creatures and assesses its legacy as an early true crime picture and a brilliant introduction to Jackson, Winslet, and Lynskey's many talents.
