With just over a month until Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy rockets into theaters, the promotional push is on — but with this particular film, you couldn’t ask for a better soundtrack as the marketing machine’s efforts continue to impress.
The latest teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy sets the preview to the tune of The Runaways’ punk classic “Cherry Bomb,” and while it recycles quite a bit of previously seen footage, it also offers up a few choice moments that make it something special indeed. And in the grand tradition of its predecessors, it also has some great musical accompaniment.
Along with getting a few more shots of Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) in action, the teaser also reiterates the “outlaw” nature of these new Marvel heroes and their reluctant roles as the protectors of 12 billion people. We see a bit more of the battle between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), and yet another scene featuring some witty banter between Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Rocket Raccoon.
Directed by James Gunn (Slither), Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1 and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro.
