With exactly one year to go until Deadpool is scheduled to hit theaters, Ryan Reynolds commemorated the occasion with a sneak peek at some key parts of the costume he’ll be wearing when he brings Marvel’s mouthy mercenary to the big screen for a solo adventure.
In a photo that Reynolds posted to Twitter, the actor can be seen standing alongside a set of gloves and — more importantly — a very familiar mask perched on a display stand in the foreground.

“Sepia tone disguises the fact the mask is ballerina pink. It’s early. 365 sleeps early.” wrote Reynolds.
Along with stoking the fires on the long-awaited project, the photo also serves as a nice reminder to fans that the Deadpool movie is indeed happening — something that many people thought would never happen, given how long it’s been since Reynolds made his debut as the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It’s still unknown whether that film will connect with the upcoming solo adventure in any way, though it wouldn’t be surprising if Deadpool takes a few jabs at the poor treatment he received in the earlier film.
Casting for the film thus far has been limited to Reynolds, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrein, although recent reports suggest the studio is looking for a female lead to add to the cast.
Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool is based on a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and is scheduled to hit theaters February 12, 2016.
