Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra: everything we know so far

The race to make the best superhero game isn’t slowing down as we await the first title from Skydance New Media, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. This is one of two games to feature Black Panther, but this game, as the name spells out, is set in the past, during World War II. That, of course, can only mean Captain America will be the other major hero to show up. This is a very unique pairing we haven’t seen in games before. Given the pedigree of Marvel and the talent at Skydance New Media, most notably Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame, there are some major expectations for this superhero romp. We won’t waste time trying to cut off the Hydra’s head and go straight to the heart of the matter with all the details we know so far.

Release date

The current release window for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is 2025. The last news we got related to the release was that the game would be published by Plaion. This news didn’t come with any specific updates, but does indicate that the game is progressing smoothly and likely still on target for a 2025 release.

Platforms

Skydance New Media

An interesting note is that we still don’t have any confirmed platforms for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. We can assume it will be on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, and likely PC as well, but won’t know for sure until further details are given.

Trailers

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra | Story Trailer

The story trailer establishes the setting and characters for this game. The story will focus on Captain America, aka Steve Rogers, and Azzuri, the Black Panther active during the 1940,s but also two additional characters: Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandoes, and Wakandan spy Nanali. Each seems to have their own reasons for going after Hydra, but the trailer makes it clear that their alliance is shaky at best. The trailer ends with them throwing down on a bridge.

Gameplay

Black Pantyher sneaking on a branch.
Skydance New Media

No gameplay is available just yet for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, but the trailer does at least hint at what we might expect. First, while not confirmed, it appears that we will be playing as at least both Captain America and Black Panther, if not Gabriel and Nanali as well. Black Panther is shown doing more stealth and platforming, while Cap appears to take a more direct approach with his shield. Whether you will be able to choose your character, swap between them for specific chapters, or any other such details is still a mystery.

Preorder

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra isn’t coming until a nebulous time in 2025, so we have no preorder information to give. Marvel likes to give plenty of bonuses and special editions, so we will be sure to update you once those are known.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max may secretly be a big deal for Samsung fans
An iPhone 15 Pro Max laying face-down outside, showing the Natural Titanium color.

Phone users have come to expect a certain build and design on their devices, which is why the majority of mobile phones have a similar layout. According to the leaker Ice Universe, the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra might have more similarities than you'd expect.

According to the leaker, the two phones will be almost exactly the same size — down to their length, width, height, and even bezel size. The biggest difference is that the Galaxy S25 Ultra won't have the iPhone's Dynamic Island, giving it a slight edge in terms of screen size.

Can you trust your Samsung Galaxy Watch? Here’s what one study says
Exercise rings on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.

Have you ever looked at the fitness results on your smartwatch and wondered how accurate they are? You aren't alone. Samsung asked that same question about its Galaxy Watch and partnered with the University of Michigan to put it to the test. The results? That's what we're going to dig into.

The Human Performance & Sport Science Center (HPSSC) discovered that the Galaxy Watch's findings were on par with the sport science reference devices used to measure heart rate, sweat loss, VO2 max, and body fat percentage. By "sport science reference devices," we mean the high-end medical equipment used to determine the physical performance of a professional athlete.

Acer is about to do something it’s never done before
CPU block on the Acer Predator Orion 7000.

With IFA 2024 set to begin this week, the first announcements and teasers are already here, including a slew of new Intel Lunar Lake mobile processors -- and those CPUs might appear in some unexpected devices. One of those devices might be a new gaming handheld, and this time, it's from a manufacturer that hasn't ventured into that market before: Acer. According to a teaser on X (formerly Twitter), Acer is working on some exciting new releases, and although the announcement is fairly cryptic, one of those products looks like a handheld.

Predator Gaming, an Acer account, dropped a little hint about its upcoming lineup, which will be unveiled on September 4. It's nothing more than a couple of silhouettes, but that's enough to get the speculation flowing. One of the silhouettes is clearly an Acer laptop, but there's also a different product, half of which is obstructed.
