ShiftCam is adding to its range of iPhone filmmaking accessories with ProRig+, a revised version of its modular camera rig that has dedicated controls for focus, zoom, shutter, and shooting modes. The new system launches on Kickstarter with the ProControl remote, giving mobile creators a higher level of hands-on control without having to constantly tap their iPhone’s screen.

The announcement comes soon after ShiftCam introduced the original ProRig, developed with feedback from Apple. The original model is expected to ship in the coming weeks, while ProRig+ will be a more advanced remote and will be delivered to backers in February 2027. The Kickstarter campaign has also been honored with the platform’s “Projects We Love” designation.

ProControl delivers dedicated camera controls to the iPhone

The biggest addition to ProRig+ is ProControl, an upgraded wireless camera remote that works with ShiftCam’s ONE app. It adds a two-stage shutter, manual focus adjustment, zoom control, and shooting mode change, compared to the basic shutter remote that came with the original ProRig.

The shutter is two-stage, so you can half-press to focus and then press fully to take a picture. The creators can also use physical controls on the handle of the rig to adjust framing, fine-tune focus, and switch between supported shooting modes, which could make it easier to shoot while keeping both hands on the setup.

The rest of the system is still ProRig’s modular system. The frame supports multiple configurations, including rotating handles, mounting points, and compatibility with the ShiftCam accessory ecosystem. Users are able to build anything from a lightweight handheld setup to a more elaborate production rig with compatible lenses, filters, microphones, and lighting equipment.

With interchangeable bumpers for each phone model, users can keep the main rig and not have to replace the whole setup when they get a new phone, as the frame from ShiftCam can be used with supported iPhone upgrades.

ShiftCam says the original ProRig was developed in collaboration with Apple, who gave feedback on its creation. That involvement was disclosed before the original product launch, not as a separate announcement from Apple approving ProRig+.

ProRig+ price and availability on Kickstarter

ProRig+ is launching on Kickstarter for $159, which is said to be a 20% saving off its planned retail price of $199. There’s also a limited early-delivery option for $189 with an estimated delivery in December 2026, while regular ProRig+ rewards are expected in February 2027.

There’s also a Filter Starter Kit for $362, Vlog Starter Kit for $399, Lens Starter Kit for $419, Zooms Starter Kit for $499, and a Filmmaker Kit for $549.

Importantly, owners of the original ProRig will not need to buy an entirely new rig to get the new controls. ShiftCam says existing users can upgrade their setup with ProControl, available as a separate add-on purchase.

The campaign is now live on Kickstarter. All delivery dates provided are estimates and not guaranteed shipping dates, as with all crowdfunding projects.

Dropped calls are one of those annoyances we have all learned to live with. You drive through a dead zone or walk into the wrong corner of your house, and suddenly your call is gone. SpaceX wants to fix that, and it has picked Qualcomm to help.

Qualcomm has announced that SpaceX will use its Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure platforms to build Starlink Mobile, a nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the United States. In simple terms, Qualcomm’s technology will power Starlink’s cell towers on the ground.
