Take your camera for a spin with the Revolve camera dolly

Photo junkies with tight budgets will definitely want to check out this project by videographer Jeremy Canterbury. He’s designed and built the Revolve camera dolly which offers a low-cost, modular alternative to more conventional camera equipment — which can get quite expensive.

It’s designed to make it easier to capture smooth video and time lapse photography. According to the Revolve website, the dolly comes with a range of mounts from the standard ball and horseshoe to an iPhone mount extension. The device is supposed to be almost universally compatible across most cameras.

It was made out of aerospace grade aluminum. What’s really cool about the design is that the dolly was constructed with adjustable axes which allow it travel in a straight line or a curved arc of nearly any angle. You’ll notice in the photos that the dolly has ruler marks. These marks assist in proper alignment of the wheels for those curved arc shots.

Revolves come with a central mount and two side mounts for attaching accessory equipment like lighting units or ball heads. Canterbury will also have two kits available to add on to the Revolve. One of them is the monopod which can be used to raise the camera up to 65 inches. The other is a rail kit for use on rough terrain.

At the moment, the project isn’t fully orderable but you can help out the Kickstarter fund and depending on how much you pledge you could earn a Revolve.

Rather than a perfect circle, the moon orbits around our home planet in an elliptical pattern and one full orbit around our planet takes roughly 29.5 days. Depending on the moon's location on this elongated orbital trajectory, our faithful natural satellite is sometimes closer or farther away from our planet. At the closest point of this orbit (perigee), the moon is a more than 31,000 miles closer to our planet than it is during its farthest point of orbit (apogee).

With its futuristic build and opaque exterior, Whitacker Studio’s Joshua Tree Residence is a diamond in the California rough. Architect James Whitaker designed the structure using a series of shipping containers arranged in a clever starburst formation. Even though the design may look a bit chaotic, it was intentional, as each container was positioned to provide privacy for residents.

The privacy is an essential part of the interior, which is minimalist and filled with natural light. Despite the asymmetrical design of the private residence, there is an openness to it, namely due to the open living area located in the heart of the home. This privacy aspect also extends to the back of the home, which features a secluded deck that's built into a cove of rocks, thus providing protection from the desert winds.
