Fujifilm Intros FinePix F200EXR Camera

Fujifilm has announced two new digital cameras, including the entry-level point-and-shoot A150 and the new FinePix F200EXR, Fujifilm’s first camera to feature its Super CCD EXR sensor technology, designed to enhance image quality and improve sensitivity, offering high-resolution, high-sensitivity/low-noise, and wide dynamic range modes all in a single sensor.

“There is strong demand in the digital camera market to increase the number of pixels on a sensor, which, all too often, is used as a convenient yardstick for image quality,” said Fujifilm USA marketing manager David Troy, in a statement. “Consumers have realized there’s more to a good picture than just the number of megapixels, and with our Super CCD EXR sensor we prove that true image quality is about a combination of many factors like tone, hue, color fidelity, dynamic range, sharpness, and resolution—all brought to life vividly in the FinePix F200EXR.”

The F200EXR offers a 12 megapixel resolution, a 3-inch LCD display, a 5× optical zoom, and optical image stabilization. The camera sports an EXR Auto mode that recognizes an image’s subject and scene and automatically sets an appropriate shooting mode, although users can also manually select between the EXR’s three primary modes. The camera also features face detection (up to 10 people), a 5 fps continuous shooting mode (at 3 megapixels), and 17 scene modes (including an underwater mode that can be used with a special underwater casing). The camera stores images and video to xD/SD cards, including SDHC media. Fujifilm says the F200EXR should be available this month for a suggested price of $399.95.

Fujifilm has also announced its new A150 entry-level camera, offering a 10 megapixel resolution, 3× optical zoom, face-detection technology, SD storage, and a 3-inch LCD display. The A150 stores images to SD media, features a 30 fps movie mode, and runs off AA batteries—handy when away from electrical outlets to recharge things. Fujifilm expects the A150 will be available this month for a suggested retail price of $129.95.
