Olympus has taken the wraps off its new Stylus-7010 digital camera, a new super-slime 12 megapixel digital camera with a 7× optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD display. The STylus-7010 also offers both mechanical and digital image stabilization for blur-free shots, and new autofocus technology that continuously adjusted brightness and focus while subjects and photographers move. For folks who don’t want to be overwhelmed with features, a new OR (Olympus Recommended) button provides quick access to common features, like an in-camera panorama feature to stitch up to three photos together and shadow adjustment for detail in darker areas. The Stylus-7010 also features a “beauty mode” that soften wrinkles, shadows, and blemishes—and a post-shot “Beauty Fix” feature lets users smooth out skin and make eyes more dramatic right in th camera. The Stylus-7010 should land in August for $199.99.
Olympus is also keeping entry-level and budget photographers in mine with new additions to its FE camera series, the FE-5020, the FE-4000, and FE-46. All three cameras pack 12 megapixel resolutions, in-camera “magic filters” that apply image transformations like Pop Art, Pin Hole, Fish Eye, and a Wedding Filter in the FE-4000 and FE-46 that pastels and fuzzes out backgrounds; at the higher end, the FE-5020 sports Olympus’s TruePic III image processor. The cameras also sport face detection, intelligent autofocus, face detection for up to 16 people, in-camera editing, and the ability to use either xD or microSD media. The new FE series cameras will be available in September in a variety of colors; the FE-5020 will carry a suggested retail price of $159.99, while the FE-4000 and FE-46 will go for $149.99 and $99.99, respectively.
