Besides Casio’s new green-screen-style capture technology on display at CES, one of the most interesting camera debuts was the new Exilim FS-10, a new camera capable of shooting up to 1,000 frames per second for ultra slow-motion video and burst shooting.
Though Casio has demonstrated this kind of quick-shooting tech before in its larger cameras, the FS-10 is the first to do it in such a tiny, pocketable form factor. It measures only 0.64 inches thick, compared to the massive SLR-like form factor of the old EX-F1, Casio’s last cam to do the slow-mo trick.
The FS-10 will shoot bursts of 6.0-megapixel shots at up to 30 fps, or much lower quality video at up to 1000 fps. Casio rather shamelessly demonstrated the technology at its booth by allowing onlookers to shoot a squad of cheerleaders with the cameras in slow motion, which drew major crowds of onlookers.
The FS-10 will retail for $350 when it shows up in March, and be available in blue, gray, red and white.
