Woman gets tattoos of all her Facebook friends

tattoosA woman in the Netherlands has had pictures of her Facebook friends tattooed onto her arm. All 152 of them.

A 90-second video posted on YouTube titled “My Social Tattoo” appears to show the woman having all of her Facebook friends tattooed onto her right arm. By the end of the process, her entire arm is covered with tightly packed tattoos of her friends’ faces.

The identity of the woman is not shown in the video, though the user name of the person who posted the video on YouTube is given as “susyj87”. According to the credits on the one-and-a-half-minute production, the tattoo parlor where the work was carried out is located in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a fan of the social networking giant has done something many people might describe as at best extreme, and at worst rather worrying.

In February this year, an Egyptian man named his baby daughter Facebook in honor of the website’s role in the revolution that took place there, and just last month an Israeli couple decided to name their newborn baby Like after the button found on the site.

Whether the woman’s Facebook friends feel flattered by being tattooed onto their friend’s arm, or simply weirded out by it, isn’t immediately clear. Let’s hope they stay on good terms though, as the usually simple act of unfriending could cause this woman something of a headache, as well as a sore arm.

Meta (formerly Facebook) might owe people who used the social media site between 2007 and 2022 some money due to privacy infringement, according to Mashable.

The social media giant has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit where it admits no fault in the claims against the company, but has agreed to pay out $725 million in damages. The money is available to all who submit a claim by the appropriate deadline of August 25, 2023. If you are (or were) a Facebook user, here's how to know if you're eligible and get your share of the settlement.
How to know if you're eligible
There are various stipulations you should take into consideration, including that the $725 million award will be truncated after Meta pays its legal and administrative fees. There are also eligibility, filing, and opt-out dates you want to note.

As its answer to TikTok, Reels is clearly a particularly important priority for Meta. Which is why a number of its platforms' recent feature updates often involve Reels. And today's announcement was not exempt from Meta's push to make Reels just as competitive as TikTok.

On Thursday, Meta announced that it would be bringing Reels to Facebook Groups, mentioning it as one of three new ways for users to "to connect over shared interests." Facebook group members and admins will be able to add "audio, text overlay and filters on top of their videos before sharing to bring their stories to life."
