Hardware startup Essential is shutting down after releasing only one device
Essential, the hardware startup founded by Android creator Andy Rubin, has announced that it's shutting down. The company released one smartphone, the Essential PH-1, and teased a concept for a new device, called the Gem, late last year. The company will also be stopping software updates for the PH-1.
